Today we welcomed Doug Beattie MC MLA, John Stewart MLA and Roy Beggs MLA to Islandmagee Primary School.
They were keen to hear how the new build was progressing and eager to find out how they might help us further with the project. We discussed the impact of COVID on our school community and shared how so very thankful we are for the amazing support we have had from families during the pandemic. Mr Beattie was particularly interested in our views on Remote Learning and how we believed every effort should be made to keep children in school with the appropriate support and the importance of funding to allow this to be the case. We shared how challenging remote learning had been for everyone in the past and how the dedication of all staff had made the support of Keyworker families possible despite having to homeschool their own children.
Unfortunately due to the pandemic and wanting to keep everyone safe in the run up to Christmas we were unable to offer our usual warm hospitality in the form of a hot cuppa and mince pie but hopefully next time they visit, we will be sitting in our New School Building.
